WARREN, Ohio– Ultium Cells joined forces with the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center in the fight against breast cancer, raising a total of $9,730 for Joanie’s Promise, a program that ensures anyone in the community who requires diagnostic breast services has access to the best care available regardless of ability to pay.
To raise funds, Ultium Cells hosted their annual “Paint the Plant Pink” t-shirt fundraiser, selling over 400 shirts that read “stronger together,” for $20 each. These shirts were worn by team members every Friday during the month of October to raise awareness and show support for those affected by breast cancer. Pink safety glasses were also sold for $5 each, along with personal donations, to further contribute to the cause.
To advocate for early detection, Ultium Cells will host the Joanie Abdu mobile mammography screening unit on November 10th from 8:00 am – 2:30 pm, where employees and family members can receive their yearly mammogram on site.
These contributions will help JACBCC and Joanie’s Promise continue to deliver the most accurate prevention, early detection, diagnosis and support services available in the Mahoning Valley area.
